Commonly referred to as neck sprain or strain although symptoms may have other causes. Common in car accidents or trauma capable of causing an acceleration-deceleration injury. Diagnosis with x-ray or MRI scan, further testing may be needed based off exam.
Treatments can consist of rest, ice and or heat, medication such at over the counter nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), physical therapy, chiropractic manipulation, medical procedure such as Facet joint injection, Epidural steroid injections (ESI) or require spinal surgery.
