Bone Spurs

Bone spurs are most common in people over the age of 60.  Bone spurs are enlargement of bony structure (osteophytes) that are smooth, hard bumps of extra bone that forms on the ends of bones or joints.  Bone Spurs occurs in many parts of the body, such as your hands, shoulders, neck, spine, hips, knee, ankles, feet (heels).  We treat all areas where osteophytes cause pain.

Diagnosis bone spurs or Osteophytes is by x-ray.

Treatment for bone spurs can consist of physical therapy, medication, epidural steroid injection, or spinal surgery such as a laminectomy discectomy or spinal fusion if they occur in the spine.
