Spondylolisthesis

Spondylolisthesis is derived from the Greek term spondylo: vertebra, and listhesis: to slip.  This occurs when the vertebra slips forward over another.  This can occur when you have traumas involving gymnastics, football, and weightlifting.  It can also occur with disc degeneration usually at the L5-S1 levels, increase shear stress on the L5 vertebrae from the gravitation effect.  Other causes of Spondylolisthesis are post surgery, pathological and genetics.  The symptoms are lower back pain with leg pain or numbness. Diagnosed with x-ray.

Treatments can consist of exercise, medication, physical therapy, medical procedure such as Epidural Steroid injection (ESI) or require spinal surgery.
