Meet Dr. Kesani at Institute of Spinal Disorders

“I like to take my time to get to know patients on a personal level, learn how their spine issues affect their daily lives, and formulate a treatment plan, thereby enabling them to live a more complete life. There is nothing more gratifying for me than to watch the transformation of patients as they get better and can function and live their lives to the fullest.”

    -Anil K. Kesani, MD, FAAOS

Dr. Anil Kesani joined the Institute of Spinal Disorders in 2015, bringing his skills and experience as a board certified and fellowship trained spine surgeon to the DFW community. While he has lived all over the world, Dr. Kesani appreciates everything Texas has to offer. “The biggest draw to come to Texas was to be closer to family. Knowing I could play a part in bringing better options for spine care to the community was also important.” stated Dr. Kesani.

With a treatment philosophy akin to Dr. Robert Myles, founder of the Institute of Spinal Disorders, Kesani knew this was the right place for him to practice. Dr. Kesani maintains a special interest with complex neck and back cases, but overall, takes a very conservative approach to practicing medicine. According to Dr. Kesani, “Ensuring patients have a complete understanding of their disease process and treatment options that are available is paramount. I reserve surgery for cases that have failed non-operative and other less invasive medical interventions.” Additionally, Dr. Kesani encourages patients to bring a friend for family member along to the appointment to help process the information, and ask questions.

In his free time, Dr. Kesani likes to travel with his family and gain insight into various cultures, which ultimately helps him understand his patients better. Dr. Kesani’s level of care and compassion was inspired by his father, a surgeon himself. “No matter how stressful the days can be or how difficult a case can be, just being able to impact the life of one person is indescribable. To see a patient go from nearly paralyzed and wheelchair-bound, to being able to walk into my clinic after his/her surgery again, is a feeling that is so insurmountable that just seems to dissolve away any other adversity we face.” maintains Dr. Kesani.
